Five Movies Elizabeth Won't Admit She Likesby Raisintorte
Bring It On
Elizabeth loved cheesy high school movies, and this was one of the best. It had everything a girl could want in her fluff – romance, intrigue, rival cheerleaders, a cheer-off, and dancing. Besides she had always wanted to be a cheerleader (and would never admit she had dragged Simon to this movie on opening weekend.)
Heathers
Elizabeth had almost pulled this movie out when Teyla had asked what American High School was like, but ended up borrowing Sixteen Candles from Simpson (not that that was any better, but . . . .) She just didn’t want Teyla do get the impression that all American High School students plotted the deaths of their classmates and tried to blow up schools. However, anything with young Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannon Doherty (pre the 90210 years) was worthy of watching over and over again.
You’ve Got Mail
She could have picked Sleepless in Seattle or When Harry Met Sally, but ended up choosing You’ve Got Mail. Her own relationship with Simon had been frequently done from a distance, and she just had a special place in her heart for Meg Ryan.
Footloose
Evil John Lithgow – Teenage Kevin Bacon – a Ban on Dancing – Kenny Loggins. Really? What’s not to love? (She just didn’t want the other members of the expedition to know she danced around her room for most of the movie.)
Hong Kong 97
Three words – Robert, Patrick, and Naked. Elizabeth had picked up the movie in the bargain bin of her local movie store back when it came out and had watched it as a joke with Simon. She always thought Colonel Sumner had looked strangely like the lead, and wanted to watch it again, so she added it to her private movie collection. It really was a horrible movie, but in a good way.
